Manacor Porto Cristo

Porto Cristo a natural fishing and sporting harbour, although modern has not lost its natural charm. Its beach deserves special mention so does a visit to the Aquarium and to the local natural caves, Drach and Hams being the most visited on the island.

Cala Anguila, just three kilometres form Porto Cristo combines Nature with the construction of residential areas, which are perfectly integrated in landscape.

In the whole area formed by Cala Anguila, Cala Mendia and s´Estany d´en Mas, the hotel establishments of recent construction rend quality to tourism, rounding off the charm of these coves.

The cove of s´Estany d´en Mas has a very wide beach with fine sand and crystalline waters, which are ideal for diving and water sports. Trekking is one of the most recommended activities.

Esglesia Mare de Deu del Carme is a church built between 1916 and 1922 . Its style is neo-roman and it is dedicated to the Virgin del Carme, the patroness of fishermen and navigators. In 1957 it was enlarged and completed with the steeple in the same style. After the modification of the apse it was inaugurated on 10th July 1964 in its current state.

Passeig de la Sirena, promenade were we can find the mermaid sculpture destroyed after the civil war and substituted on the occasion of the centennial of Porto Cristo´s foundation in the year 1988 by a work by the sculptor Pere Pujol.

Coves Blanques is a group of natural caves altered during the talayotic times and of simple floor. Before the foundation of the urban nucleus they served as a refuge to sailors and fishermen. Nowadays it forms part of the promenade.

Baptisteri Basílica Sa Carotja is one of the scarce remains of the Christians in Mallorca. In the year 1909 the remains of the paleochristian basilica known by the name of Sa Carrotja were discovered and excavated. The baptismal font is the only remain of the temple of the 5th century a.C.

Torre del Serral dels Falcons watchtower built in 1577 used to send visual messages. It was part of a net of coastal defence towers that announced the presence of pirates.

Club Nautic founded in the year 1969 by Joan Servera this nautical club has got 206 moorings on its pontoons and two docks reserved for ships on transit. It offers electrical and water supply to ship owners. There are also showers, laundry, restaurant, meteorological reports and a platform for repairs and maintenance of medium sized crafts.
