Nerja Malaga

Called Narixa or Najira by the Arabs, this town lies in a magnificent natural setting at the foothills of the Sierra Almijara mountains. The Nerja Caves, the excavations and architectural remains dating back 30 000 years and the Balcn de Europa, a clifftop square overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, have made this the best -known town in the Axarquia region of Malaga and a favourite holidays resort among foreign tourists.

Animated nightlife and the chance to purchase hand-crafted goods are further attractions for the visitor. The music and dance festivals held at nerja Caves in July, the Festival of Las Maravillas in March and September and the patron saint celebrations between 9 and 12 october offer the tourist the opportunity to sample the charm of the inhabitants of this white wall town.
