17th- and 18th-century art are reflected in this palace, one of the best conserved in Europe. Paintings, frescoes, clocks, furniture, tapestries, porcelain, etc.

Changing of the Royal Guard at the Plaza de la Armera: the first Wednesday of each month at 12:00 noon except on days of official receptions, in July, August and September.

Lighting of the Royal Palace: the palace is lit on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 pm to 12:00 midnight.

Alcalá Gate

Built to commemorate Charles III's first 20 years on the throne, the arch was designed by Francesco Sabatini. It was completed nine years later and has been one of Madrid's greatest symbols ever since.

The Fountain of Cibeles

Cibeles Fountain

This monument shows a goddess riding in a chariot drawn by two lions. It is another reference to the formerly fertile land around Madrid. It is one of the city's famous symbols and is very close to the hearts of the Madrileños. Built in the late 18th century.
