The unique silhouette of Salobreña stands out between a sea of tropical crops and the Mediterranean sea. It is a village with white houses perched on a rcok, and impressive Arab castle at the top. The old quarter has the charm of a typical Andalusian white village, with picturesque narrow winding streets.
The Arab Castle dates back to the 13th century, and reached its splendour in the two following centuries. It was the summer residence of the Nasrid kings of Granada, and was later used as a Royal Prision and a military post by the Christians. It is currently the venue of recreational and cultural activities.
The biggest market of the Tropical coast is situated on the Promenade during the months of July, August and September.
