Once a year the streets of Mojacar are transported into
the past, with Moors and Christians dressed in authentic
costume on horseback or firing blunderbusses into the air.
Since 1988 the sesquicentennial of the surrender of the
city to the forces of Isabel of Castile Mojacar celebrates
every year with the moros and Cristianod fiesta three days
of street parties, mock attacks culminating in a grand parade
through the town and nightly celebrations in the kabilas
or troop encampments, specially constructed for the festival.
