Javea is a privileged area for sports. The sea and its
coasts lined with cliffs, breakwaters, small islands, coves,
beaches of sand or pebbles, sea beds with crystal clear
waters, allow an infinite number of possibilities for water
sports, such as sailing, diving, underwater fishing, all
along its twenty-five kilometres of coast with its incomparable
beauty.
The calm waters of the bay invite one to swim or water ski.
Fishing is another sport for which Javea is a natural paradise.
Fishing enthusiasts use special places called Pesqueres,
often situated in remote places such as nooks and crannies
along the cliffs or on small reefs which are difficult to
reach but which enjoy an abundance of fish.
Local fisherman talk of improbable places where the wealth
of fish allows huge catches. This is nor recommended for
the beginner, but it is, undoubtedly, one of the most noteworthy
traditions of the local people.
