Following the road from Javea to the Cape of la Nau one
reaches the Arenal beach which is situated in the centre
of the bay. At its northern end is Punta de l´Arenal
where the Costa Blanca Parador hotel is situated. This beach
is without doubt the best known and most visited by bathers,
being the only one in the local area formed by sand and
the Arenal has experienced major growth in recent years.
The Arenal offers sun, sand and sea, which dominates much
of the Costa Blanca and caters for the holiday maker. It
is undoubtedly the counterpoint to the rugged natural beauty
of javea somewhere between the houses of the old town and
the port, and the residential areas which are situated in
the thick pine woods of the capes Prim, Negre and La Nau,
Ambolo and Granadella.
In spite of the urban pressure, the Arenal preserves a
general harmony with its apartment blocks of limited height
and well structured roads. Along the promenade there is
a commercial leisure complex, nerve centre of the area especially
during the summer months. Summer nights on the Arenal are
extraordinarily bustling and lively, the usual meeting point
for young people around the shops, bars and restaurants.
