Denia

This resort is situated in the southermost region of the province of Valencia. At 100 km from the Valencia and Alicante airport. It is one of the famous tourist resorts of this province together with Gandia. Denia has nearly 20km of lovely beaches of fine sand, long, lonely (to relax) and also rocky. At the north you have the beaches for swimming and sunbathing, Les Bovetes, L'Almadrava and Las Marinas. Toward the south there are the rocky ones with crystal clear water, Cova Tallada (Natural Reserve), Les Rotes and Torre del Gerro Cove which are the paradise for divers.

Among the water sport and beach activities, Denia offers the visitor ride bycicle excursions to the Natural Park. There are also a wide offer of sport facilities such us The Golf Club La Sella, gyms, tennis clubs, etc...

Though the town has little to offer budget travellers in the way of bargains, its beautiful beaches, water sports, and tasty restaurants are enough to tempt even the most thrifty to splurge. Denia´s harbour serves as an important ferry connection to the Balearic Islands. Come summertime the town erupts in celebration with several wild festivals, abandoning diana´s purity for the hunt.

The gastronomy of Denia is based on the mediterranean cuisine as in the rest of the coastline of Costa Blanca. A selection of rices (famous paella, or arroz a banda), seafood and fish and really typical dishes from the area such as "coques" that is a style of pizza or the "espencat" made of vegetables. After a tasty dinner it is time to enjoy the vibrant summer nightlife of Denia, a large number of Discos, beach bars, with a great and friendly atmosphere will make you enjoy the "Denia" way of life.

Denia Useful Information

The train station (965 78 04 45) is on C/ Calderon de la Baca just off C/ Patricio ferrandiz. The bus station is on Pl. Arxiduc Carles. For train and bus Schedule.

See Coastal Transportation . To reach the Balearics by sea consult Balearia Eurolenies Maritimes, in Pl. Oculista Buigues, between the tourist office and the water Feries run from Denia to Palma and Ibiza. Local services including local buses, trains, ferries and the post office are located on Calle Patricio Ferrandiz, which runs straight to the port.

The tourist office sits on Pl. Oculista Buiges 9.30m inland from Estació Marítima at the end of C/ Patricio Ferrandiz. To get to the tourist office from the bus station turn left out of the plaza onto C/ Patricio Ferrandiz; from the train station, go straight ahead, then veer right ( 966 42 23 67) Open M-Su 9.30 am to 8pm.

Three blocks from C/ Patricio Ferrandiz shop and restaurant lined C/ Marqués de Campo is the main tourist strip . In an emergency contact the police at 092.
