Cala Millor Bicycle routes
Costa dels Pins – Cap des Pinar
16 kms – 2hours
Difficulty easy
Ride along the main Llambies towards Cala Bona. Go straight
on. You´ll get to a crossing, where there´s a
signpost pointing to Costa dels Pins. Keep going straight
on.
After a short ride, there´s a group of villas on your
right, called Port Verd. From here, you´ll have a lovely
view. Shortly after entering to Costa dels Pins, you´ll
see the Sa Marjal beach to your right and a little bit further
on you´ll see a part of the golf course. Club de Golf
Son Servera (9holes). Keep going straight on as you pass the
Eurotel. The road begins its ascent.
When you arrive at the end of this road, you´ll find
yourself at the lookout point Cap des Pinar. From here you
can enjoy a wonderful view of the Bay of Cala Bona and Cala
Millor . In the distance at the end of the coastline, you´ll
see the green belt area Punta de N´Amer.
On the way back take the same road, pass the roundabout then
bend to the left to the Port of Cala Bona, surrounded by lots
of boats of which the Majorcan Llaüt stands out.
Have a break at one of the many bars on a terrace and enjoy
the lovely view. On the night part of the ydyllic Cala Bona
Harbour you´ll find some beautiful little beaches. Whenever
you feel like, return to the same road na Llambies back to
your starting point.
Port Vell - Son Servera
21 kms – 2´30 hours
Difficulty medium
Ride along the main road na Llambies towards Cala Bona. Go
straight on You´ll get to a crossing where there´s
a signpost pointing to Costa dels Pins. Keep going straight
on After a while on the right, you´ll find an urbanisation
with Majorcan character named Port Verd where a wide watching
tower is distinguished. In the same direction and also to
the right, you´ll pass by on an ancient place where
locals use to spend their summer holidays, called Port nou.
Afterwards, and always on the right, you´ll see the
tourist resort Port Vell which has a small beach covered by
marina seaweed and beautiful tamarind trees.
Once you get to the crossing turn left, towards Son Servera.
The road goes slightly uphill, while you go past some beautiful
olive trees. Then it goes downhill again and you will be able
to see in the distance the village of Son Servera. You´ll
get to a bridge with a signpost towards Son Servera turn left.
Following this narrow road it will lead you to the village.
Son Servera is a locally to which part of Cala Millor, Cala
Bona and Costa dels Pins belongs
Following the indications to get to town centre, you´ll
find the church the townhall and typical cafes as well as
the handicraft market of Friday mornings.
Enjoy the steep downhill ride back into Cala Millor.
Sa Coma – Son Carrió
20 kms – 2´30 hours
Difficulty medium
Start from the Tourist Information Office in Parc de la Mar
and go towards Sa Coma. You´ll get to Avda de Ses Savines,
There are many shops and cafés since it´s the
main street of Sa Coma. You could reach Sa Coma´s beach
from any of the streets on your way, just bending to the left.
The Tourism Information Office of S´illot is located
on the left at Levant street, just before getting to the stop
sign. Nearby there is a prehistoric settlement if you decide
to continue, turn to the right and go straight ahead to Son
Carrió.
The road is curvy and slightly uphill In this agricultural
area there are many almond, fig and carab trees. Just arriving
to Son Carrió you´ll be rewarded with a steep
downhill stretch.
Once you get to the village, you can leave your bicycle by
the church square and have a rest. Very close to the church
there´s a bakery where you can buy coca mallorquina.
There are also some cafés which invite you to relax
for a while.
On your way back turn towards Cala Millor. The road is easy-going
and along the way you will see a trapshopping range and several
country residences of which Sa Torre Nova stands out.
On arrival at the roundabout go straight on you´ll have
a clear downhill ride.
Artá – Canyamel – Caves of Artá
40 kms – 4´30 hours
Difficulty medium
Start from the tourist office of Cala Millor towards Son
Servera. At the end of the town, follow the signposts to Capdepera/Artá.
After a while you´ll reach the Pula Golf. Take the
lane signposted to ARtá on the left. The road gets
slightly uphill as you pass the manor house es Rafalet.
After a while you´ll see the medieval and picturesque
Artá on arrival go to the center where you can have
a short break. Every Tuesday morning there is a street market
at the square of the town on the left. It´s worth strolling
around and visiting the church and the Sanctuary as well as
the Archaeology Museum of Artá. You can then go back
to the main street and visit the prehistoric village, Talaiot
de Ses Païses, which is one of the most representative
construction of the bronze age. At the roundabout, turn right
direction Artá-Canyamel.
After a nice ride, you´ll get to another roundabout
which is the main road Son Servera – Cala Rajada. Take
the turning to Canyamel – Coves d´Artá.
You´ll get to a junction indicating the Caves of Artá
on the left, but go straight on. You will pass the medieval
tower Torre de Canyamel, built on arab and roman foundations
in the XIII century . It´s the most important of all
the defense towers in Majorca. It´s open to visitors.
Go straight on as you approach another rounabout bend to the
left and enter Canyamel a small tourist village, where the
beach is easy to find. There´s a bridge at the end of
the beach, cross it and you´ll get to the road which
takes you to the Caves of Artá. While you ride uphill
enjoy the beautiful view and as you get to the Caves, you´ll
be impressed by its beauty. On your way back you can enjoy
the steep downhill ride, passing the Golf Canyamel.
Take the same road until you arrive again at the roundabout.
Turn towards Son Servera and just before the tunnel starts,
go up the steep curves of the Coll des Vidriers. This ascent
will leave you breathless, but you´ll have a marvellous
view of Capdepera with its medieval castle. Careful on the
curves downhill.
Soon you´ll pass the Pula Golf again. Continue in the
direction of Son Servera. As soon as you get the town, follow
the indications towards Cala Millor.
Son Carrio – Manacor – S. Llorenç
42 kms – 4´30 hours
Difficulty medium
Start from the Tourist Information Office in Parc de la Mar
and go along s´Estanyol St. until you get to the end,
then turn right and go straight on until you reach a roundabout,
where thre´s a signpost to Son Carrió. This road
is not very well known so there is less traffic.
Once you get to the village you can leave your bicycle by
the church square and have a rest. There´s a bakery
very close to the church, where you can buy coca mallorquina
and ensaimades. There are also some cafés which invite
you to relax for a while. Turn left after the church. Soon
you will pass the small football pitch of the village and
you´ll arrive at a crossing go straight on in direction
of Manacor. Ride carefully, this road is narrow and has many
curves. You are now riding through a purely agriculture area
with pretty fincas . After a few kilometres you´ll get
to the island´s smallest village. Son Negre . another
few hefty pushes on the pedals will get you past the large
rise before Manacor, cross the main road for Porto Cristo-Palma
keep left and turn into the first street on the right called
Via Portugal, continue until the end then turn right and you´ll
get to the square Ramón Llul. You should leave yourself
a little time for Manacor and have a stroll through the old
town or a root among the market stalls.
Onece more on your bycicle situate in front of the church
and go down along Artá St. Before you get to Joan March
Square turn left on Capdepera St. until you reach Antonio
Maura Avenue and there, turn on the right. Soon you´ll
pass another roundabout and you should turn left on the Passeig
Ferrocarril keep going straight on and after some time you
will come to the roundabout, where you have to go to the right
into Modest Codina St. reaching the traffic lights. This is
the main road Palma-Cala Rajada. Cross this road over leaving
the Guardia Civil quarters on your right.
This road is narrow and winding. After 3kms turn off right
towards Sant Llorenç. Once again you are riding through
a purely agriculture area and will soon arrive in the municipal
town of Sant Llorenç to which Son CArrió, Sa
Coma and the greatest part of Cala Millor and s´Illot
belong.
Please ensure that you do the stop at the next crossing because
you must again cross the very busy Palma – Cala Rajada
road. Turn left and then right at the signpost for Artó/
Cala Rajada into the town centre. As you get to the Banco
Central turn left and you will find yourself in the church
square where there are several bakers and bars to have a rest.
Ride along the street which leads between the church and
the Banco Credit Balear and take the first turning on the
right. You are now on the main Palma – Cala Millor road
turn right and then left into the next road towards Son Carrió.
In places the going gets a little difficult again, but soon
you´ll arrive at the crossing you passed in the morning
in direction Son Negre-Manacor.
Turn left and you´ll see the small village of Son Carrió
in front of you. Another short break may be called for.
Onece on your bicycle turn right towards Cala Millor. The
road is easy going and along the way there are several isolated
country farm houses.
Soon you will have a clear view of the bay of Cala Millor.
At the roundabout go straight on and follow the narrow road
back to your starting point.
